Who couldn't use a list of 10 boredom movies for those times when nothing is on TV, nobody is around, and Facebook is dead? Our list is a combination of classics, popcorn films, and those that fall somewhere in between. Some should kick you out of your lackadaisical mood, while others allow you to just go with your bored state of mind. All of these boredom movies are better than endlessly hitting refresh on your social network of choice or rooting through the fridge for the tenth time.
- "Dazed and Confused" The film is full of fun moments, and doesn't have much of a plot that requires concentration. This is a good one for those days when you can't dedicate too much concentration.
- "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" "You're not dying. You just can't think of anything good to do." Having the same problem? Cure your boredom vicariously through Ferris Bueller. A little reminder to seize the day may be exactly what you need.
- "Citizen Kane" It's considered one of the best films ever made, but have you seen it? Be honest now. If you're bored, why not spend a little time increasing your cultural literacy?
- The entire "Friday the 13th" series They're not a series of films so much as a highly efficient gore and wet t-shirt delivery system. These boredom movies deliver the goods without demanding as much effort as it takes to follow an even mildly complex plot.
- "Groundhog Day" Not only is this one of the funniest movies ever made, it (ironically) stands up to repeat viewings. Familiar movies you've seen a thousand times are a great way to pass the time on a day when you're too bored to seek out anything new.
- "The Princess Bride" This is another great film that stands up well to repeat viewings.
- "Shaun of the Dead" The horror/comedy is a hard thing to pin down. But, this is one of the few films that is incredibly scary during its scary moments, and equally funny during its comedic ones.
- "Clerks" Stuck at work on a dead day when you weren't even supposed to be there? At the very lease, misery loves company. I suppose you could say the same for boredom.
- "Dr. Strangelove" If you haven't seen this classic, you need to. You'll find that it's referenced in dozens, if not hundreds, of later movies and TV shows, and it's always fun to be in on the joke.
- "The Fifth Element" Big explosions, sly humor and Gary Oldman at his histrionic best make this a great film for keeping you awake on a slow, dreary day. Kiss boredom goodbye.
